High School Journalism Teacher Fellowship Program
It is essential that journalism students today receive professional-quality instruction not only in writing and editing, but also in the technology that has become a vital part of the profession. In order to provide this instruction, journalism teachers must be skilled in using the computer software and World Wide Web resources utilized in the industry. This is true not only of college professors but also of high school journalism teachers. To fulfill this need in Oklahoma, a workshop was given that concentrated on four topics: (1) desktop publishing, (2) computer-assisted reporting skills, (3) the First Amendment and the Student Press, and (4) copy editing.
