"Inquiring Into Engineering" a Workshop for Female High School Math and Science Teachers

This one-week in-residence workshop is designed to teach female math and science teachers about careers in engineering and to give them demonstration/experiment ideas for incorporating engineering principles into their curriculum. Participants met engineers from industry, toured various technical labs on campus, observed numerous demonstrations, and created their own experiments. The teachers also viewed and collected materials from our Resource Room, gaining information, brochures, videos, and handouts on engineering careers, women in engineering, NASA programs/technology, and engineering demonstrations. In the fall of 1995, each participant will incorporate these materials in both a classroom activity and a district-wide educator's workshop. All activities included extensive evaluations and follow-up.
